So. A confession.
I am often perplexed as to why certain videos and memes go viral. Most of them make me scratch my head, feel old, and worry about what is happening to the minds of our young people who LOL and pass this junk around. Few of them are as funny or as kitschy as they try to be.
But every once in awhile, I find one that makes total sense. Like this one.
If you have been anywhere near the internet these past few days, you will probably have at least seen people talking about something called “The Fox.” If you have not seen it yet, I am thrilled to introduce it you on this late summer Friday afternoon. And if you have seen it, well, tough: you’re going to see it again.
Made by a duo of brothers who host a popular variety show in their native Norway, The Fox deserves its viral status. It is self-conciously ridiculous and completely brilliant. The Fox perfectly skewers contemporary mainstream pop music with a tune so unbearably catchy and fun that I guarantee it will not leave your head for the rest of the weekend.
And even if you, for some sad reason, do not love this sublime little trifle, I guarantee that your kids will eat it up. With a crazy dance beat, an irresistible chorus full of nonsense, and an adorable grandpa reading a story to a little kid in the middle of a neon woods … what’s not to love no matter what your age?
